Welcome to Idle Forge! A browser idle game where you're a fantasy blacksmith making weapons for adventurers! Click on your weapon to forge it and make money, upgrading your tools and even helping sponsor adventurers with your weapons for their missions! (Game is early and much is subject to change.) Make sure to set your monitor refresh rate in the settings or else you may encounter some physics weirdness. Also, due to the nature of Godot 3 in HTML5 and web browsers, the game will be frozen when another tab in the same window is focused. To prevent this, you will have to open the game in its own browser window, which will remain unpaused even when unfocused. Or, you can play the downloadable version (windows only for now).

This is really cool, fun, and astatic. It is tough to see your UI elements tho, you need more contrast. In the case that you keep everything green, you need to make the darks MUCH darker and make sure there is a value contrast between the different elements.

Also, I'd make the combo click hit box more forgiving seeing as this is and idle game, no need to be frustrating in my opinion.

Great vibes, well done.

Thank you for the feedback! I am working on weapon-specific progression and upgrades which includes larger hitboxes for easier clicking. In terms of contrast, I see what you mean. I tried to keep the color scheme to 4 colors like the Game Boy, as I'm not much of an artist so only having 4 colors to work with actually helps me when making the assets. I will take what you said into consideration and see what I can do.

Ooh, an upgrade for easier clicking is a great idea!
I do like the color scheme, and most of your in-game elements work great, like the frames on the wall outlining the weapons, it makes them seem important. The biggest thing I had an issue with was the tabs on the right, I didn't even notice them until after a few minutes of playing. maybe making them bigger would fix it, I'm not sure.

games not working i dont make any gold when i click the sword or do a combo

make sure you are not click spamming as it will reset your combo and not make gold. You have to click deliberately and with a tiny bit of time in between each click to keep up your combo. I do see the issue of it not even applying 1 gold on first click though, will make sure to fix that.

updated now with the fix!

thank you

can you make it so you can transfer saves between computers for the html version

you know, I spent a LOT of time trying to find where browsers store the save file and could not find it for the life of me, so I think I'll just have to put in a manual "download save file" and "load save file" button so you can apply it across PCs/browsers/desktop and HTML. Thank you for the suggestion!

update with the ability to download and upload saves is live!

Thank you so much!

how do i do the missions i cant get it to work

I realized they have a cash invest required...but totally agree...the explanations need improvement

I apologize for the poor explanation, it was an afterthought on my part. I'm working on new features/reworks and I'll be sure to improve tutorials/explanations. But to explain it as best I can; each mission randomly generates a monster to take down. Each monster has set resistances/weaknesses to each weapon type. You need to select at least 1 weapon type and have enough Gold to cover the cost of the mission to start it. Starting a mission will lock out any used weapon types for every other mission (you can unlock a 2nd use for each weapon type by prestiging further). If you only have 1 mission at the start then there is no downside to using all weapon types for 1 mission. Enchanting your weapons will increase your success chance and always be available for every mission but will increase the cost of the mission. I hope this helps!

its all good its an amazing game and i was able to get it to work

how do i earn gold

try refreshing to update the game, I included a text label indicating how to get started: you click on the weapon above the anvil to bounce it around, the higher your combo the more money you get per click. You can then buy upgrades at the shop to begin earning passively.

My axe got stuck, lol.

I'm impressed! haven't seen that one before haha. I'll put in a failsafe button to respawn the weapon in the settings in case that happens

I included a button to reposition the weapon in case it gets stuck in the options menu, but it's also possible this is happening due to the physics, make sure to set the framerate in the options menu to your monitor refresh rate for proper physics processing

It says +1, then +2 and I gained 1 gold? What?

That is your current combo when clicking the weapon without any missed clicks, you gain Gold based on your current production multiplied by your combo. If you have no production then you gain gold based off the combo by itself.

Ok but then I think the "+" is misleading, in any other game of this genre it means how much you get. Would be clearer without the plus - or just show how much I get, starting with +0.

game has been updated with this change!

Cool :)

So... I am clicking on the weapons, but I am not getting any gold?

(+1)

Oh, you need to juggle the items.. makes complete... sense?

(1 edit)

this should be made clear to the player. also, there is a "+1 G" sign with the first click, but the number of gold is not increased.
